A woman and baby in the Guatemalan highlands near the family's newly constructed wood burning stove. The concrete stoves, are designed to be fuel efficient, requiring less firewood than open pit fires in the home or older, mud stoves. This helps reduce deforestation and the burden of wood collection for families. This stove, built in a side hut adjacent to the home, with a exhaust pipe, reduces health from traditional fireplaces on the floor inside huts.
