There was more and nicer furniture in this riverfront home in Guanacon, Cuba, a small, farming community on the banks of the Macaguanigua River outside the town of Baracoa, Cuba. In many homes, families hang large framed portraits of their daughters’ quinceañera photo shoots.. The woman told me that once a year the river floods the streets and her home. She puts her furnishings on the roof and rides out the floods locally.
