011_BaracoaFarms, Tues ride_091.JPG

A vegetable farmer filling his watering can to irrigate his lettuce beds in a small farm outside Baracoa.

He told me that he was a busy taxi driver hauling Baracoa tourists before the country closed down for two years due to Covid. When tourism completely dried up, he sold his car and bought this vegetable patch from the government, with the right to sell his harvests privately on farm stands.

(see a draft story about him and the tomato farmer in my email.)
