Farm worker Milda Guttierez Rameriez in the mountains above Baracoa, Cuba
She was hauling a burlap bag with her machete and morning harvest of beans. Milda harvests crops on the mountain for a cooperative named Jose Marti. She was hauling a burlap bag with her machete and morning harvest of beans. Milda harvests crops on the mountain for a cooperative named Jose Marti. When she turned onto a narrow dirt path through the forest, she pointed to her home - a modest, tin roof hut, in a beautiful clearing doted with palm trees. She invited me to follow for coffee.
