Uganda Cotton Highlights { 29 images } Created 12 Apr 2012

In northern Uganda, Gulu Cotton began three years ago. It was begun by South African, Bruce Robertson, who sought to take advantage of new regional peace in the war-weary region. Today, the ginnery purchases crops from some 6,500 small cotton farmers, gives them technical assistance, and employs some 400 people in plant operations.

The enterprise is supported by The Acumen Fund, which provides short-term loans for Gulu to purchase cotton crops.

The photography was donated to Acumen Fund to help raise awareness for their work in Gulu.
