Uganda, Winrock-U.S. AID, NUDEIL { 326 images } Created 9 Apr 2012

In Northern Uganda, a $30 million U.S. AID project, implemented by Winrock International, is providing new gravel roads, new wells for safe and accessible drinking water, and new schools. The construction is being completed with community labor, to give subsistence farmers cash income. The region is peaceful, farming increasing, and the economy reviving, after a 15-year brutal insurgency led by Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army. Nearly every family was impacted. The farmers photographed here, and their families, languished in camps guarded by government troops until their gradual disbanding beginning three years ago. To see a photo larger, click on it.
